Academic Counseling
Milford High School: School Counseling
Our school counselors play a vital role in supporting students’ academic success and personal growth. As part of our academic counseling services, counselors guide students in selecting courses that align with their goals, interests, and graduation requirements, while also ensuring they are challenged appropriately. We help students explore advanced opportunities such as Advanced Placement (AP) courses, Early College programs, and elective pathways that prepare them for future success.
School counselors help students select elective courses and opportunities that align with their interests, goals, and future aspirations. Our offerings include diverse career and technical pathways, teaching assistant programs, and a wide range of electives tailored to various areas of interest. Additionally, counselors work closely with students to address challenges, develop effective study habits, and create personalized academic plans. Whether you’re navigating course selections, preparing for college, or planning for your career, our team is here to provide the guidance and support you need every step of the way.
Counselors are able to help connect students with additional resources that may be beneficial for supporting individual academic success. If a student is struggling in class, the best place to start would be to reach out to the classroom teacher for additional help. Students are encouraged to make appointments with their teachers during the FLEX block (every Monday and Wednesday) in order to review material, clarify questions and/or make up missing assignments and assessments. Some teachers also offer additional office hours before or after school for ongoing support. If students are finding that they are continuing to struggle, students should reach out to their school counselor or house principal. Academic coaching and/or peer tutors may be available for intervention. For additional information or questions please contact your student’s school counselor.
